The Breckenridge annual party and the biggest town party in Breckenridge is Ulr Fest. Ulr is the Norse God of Winter / Snow so naturally Breckenridge being a ski town worships Ulr and prays for snow. The Ulr Fest involves a parade, a winter cold water plunge in the lake, a bon fire and a King and Queen crowning of Ulr.
The Ulr Fest is a wild party, especially the parade when long time locals and visiting tourists mesh and turn the entire Main Street of Breckenridge into a giant party. The parade begins with the worlds longest shot-ski where thousands of people drink a Breckenridge Distillary shot off of a ski that is 5 blocks long. The parade itself involves about 25 floats from local business and Breckenridge Ski Resort. The Ulr Parade ends with a huge town bon fire.
This year 2019 celebrating Ulr worked well and it started snowing just minutes after the featival ended. Breckenridge was blessed with a foot of fresh powder for skiers and snowboarders.
